Germany is well known for sausage and pretzels,
but the rest of German cuisine does not tend to resonate much outside of the country's borders.
The Cooking Show guys know, however, that there's a lot more to Deutsch food than
just these Oktoberfest staples.
This episode starts off simple as Alex gets some Schweinebraten
(roast pork) in the oven, but things turn messy as he demonstrates the various ways to make
the ubiquitous German noodle dish known as Spätzle (pronounced shpets-luh).
Jumbo portions of pork, noodles, and gravy aren't enough to satisfy Alex's
hunger, so for desert he's throwing together a simple Apfel Strudel that
would make Oma proud.
